Winter is special at Laurium Manor. If you like snow and winter sports then you will love it here during the winter season. With an average of 250 inches of snow per year, and as much as 390 inches, there is plenty of snow to play in December thru April and sometimes November and May. In December and January it is common to get 6-12 inches of snow overnight. Even with all this snow our roads are always clear. The excellent snow removal equipment and road crews up here make short work of snowfalls so driving in the Keweenaw is rarely a problem. Winter is also a slower time up here in the Keweenaw compared to the summer. In winter there are only about a quarter the number of visitors that there are in summer so you wont be fighting crowds or waiting in lines.

The Keweenaw has seven groomed cross country ski trails. The Swedetown Trails (open with lighted trails until 10:00pm) are located only one mile away. There are also hundreds of miles of old logging trails and shoreline that are open to the publicl.

Downhill skiers have their choice of Mt. Ripley. in Hancock or Mt. Bohemia. in Lac La Belle to ski. Porcupine Mountain is 90 miles away.

Snowmobilers have over 250 miles of groomed snowmobile trails. to enjoy. The trail system connects to the entire U.P. trail system. The trails start only four blocks away and snowmobilers can ride right to it from Laurium Manor.

After a long day of playing outdoors imagine how relaxing soaking in one of our whirlpool suites or warming in front of the fireplace will be. When you are ready to play in the evening, the Calumet Theatre. and MTU Arts & Entertainment. usually have something playing. If you are into MTU hockey or other college sports check out MTU Sports
